Bandle B. Acrylic Markers Tips & Techniques

Marker Tip

Getting Started

Steps to Prime:

  1. Shake Well Before Use:
    • With the cap securely on, shake the marker vigorously to mix the paint inside. You’ll hear a ball rattling, ensuring the paint is well-blended.
  2. Vent:
    • Take off the cap, exposing the tip of the marker. Before priming the marker for the first time, hold the marker upright and push in the tip of the marker to release any pressure.
  3. Prime the Tip::
    • Before first use, repeatedly press the tip down on a scrap piece of paper until the paint starts to flow. Additional pressure will cause the marker to leak and ink to spill.

Using the Reversible Tips

Chisel Tip:

Ideal for broad strokes, filling large areas, and creating sharp edges. Hold the marker at an angle to achieve varying line thicknesses.

Dot Tip:

Perfect for precise detailing, stippling, and creating dot patterns. Apply gentle pressure to control dot size and paint flow.

Reversing the Tips:

When reversing the tips, be sure to use a paper towel to carefully pull out the tip, turn it around, and reinsert back into the pen.

Styling Tip

Layering Colors

Once a layer is dry, apply additional colors on top to create depth and dimension. The quick-drying nature of acrylic paint allows for efficient layering.

Styling Tip

Blending

While the paint is still wet, use a brush or sponge to blend colors seamlessly. This technique is great for gradients and soft transitions.

Styling Tip

Highlighting and Shading

Use lighter colors or the white marker to add highlights, and darker colors for shadows, enhancing the three-dimensional look of your artwork

Surface Recommendations

Bandle B. Acrylic Markers adhere well on over 50 surfaces including:

  • Rocks: Create vibrant rock art. Clean the rock surface before application and seal with a spray varnish to protect your design.
  • Wood: Personalize wooden signs, frames, or furniture. Seal with a clear varnish for added protection.
  • Glass: Decorate glassware or mirrors. For a permanent design, bake the glass item in the oven following appropriate guidelines.
  • Fabric: Customize clothing, tote bags, etc. Place a piece of cardboard or paper underneath fabric to prevent paint from bleeding through. Paint your design. Allow it to dry completely (at least 24 hours). Remove cardboard and then heat-set it by ironing the fabric inside out to ensure the paint becomes permanent and washable.
